Ragging is defined as the step towards a close bond between the seniors and juniors in a coll.
Ragging must be upto a level in which both the parties are in a amiciable state to intract. It should never go on to a physical level... Ragging is more of a wit oriented phenomena which capitulates the imagination of the seniors to find innovative yet amusing tasks fa the juniors to do which maybe for their own entertainment. There's absolutely no harm in this when kept on a decent level. I ask all the seniors to be amiable and respect the juniors and not indulge in anythuing tat may marr your image as well as make you land up in jail ;).

wats ragging.. : Ragging means causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or isolates his person or exposes him to ridicule or to forbear from doing any lawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, confining or injuring him or by using criminal force to him or by holding out to him any threat of such intimidation, wrongful restraint, confinement, injury or the use of criminal force

Ok so the word "ragging " has gained much popularity recently thanks to kapil sibal and co terming that beautiful word illegal(not exactly) and making oxford university angry ( please don't ask why ? :) )
Ok lets start . Wikipedia defines "ragging " as
Ragging is a form of abuse on newcomers to educational institutions in Australia, Britain, India, Sri Lanka and in many other Commonwealth countries.
But who gives a shit to wikipedia ! :) :)
Ragging is divinity according to me !
Ragging is best known by its alias name " PDP " expanded personality development programme .I feel ragging is very much necessary as long as it has it limits. Ragging in no way means physical/mental abuse. They are two different words and have their own meanings.Bascially what happens in ragging is that the fresher introduces himself to a senior/s and is asked a few questions aka general knowledge :). I feel you can't call that ragging. If a fresher can't speak or introduce himself properly even to a senior what are the chances that he'll be able to introduce and speak well during his campus interview. So basically seniors help freshers for their campus interviews :) . and only if a fresher meets more seniors can he get help from him/her. Nobody wants to help a stranger immediately !. So whatever the government is doing "so called" against ragging is all crap.Only physical or mental abuse is dangerous and strict action should be taken against them. Other than that senior to junior interactions are in no way in that category. So i feel PDP's are necessary and flush of that "ragging" word.
Spread the love ! :)

ragging in the form singing, dancing(not in public) etc is ok....but when it is in the form of asking money it makes me sick....

Raggin according to me is the best way to get closer to our juniors..anyday its only the seniors who'll come to defend their juniors..and anyday its going to strenghten the bond between the two sects..and if it doesn't exceed the limit then everything is fine..because too much is too bad sometimes..and yea raggin is seriously one part of life which everyone must undergo to experience the affection showered by the senior..and it is the best way to initiate the rapport.
I say:
Well as said by everyone, ragging helps the juniors to maintain a good rapport with their seniors..
and prohibiting ragging is not gonna help in any way instead, it spoils the junior senior interactions...
so it should not be banned but should be restricted!!
physical abuse should not be there.. but simple talks are always encouraged!! :)
