The next day dawned. Preshika was asked to take Ishitha to the coffee shop near her house.Preshika did not want to get involved in this.But unknowingly she was also one of the reason they broke up.So she wanted to make up for it. She dialed Ishitha's number. Tring tring... And it went on and on until the line went dead. She dialed again. On the second ring, the line connected.
Yeah tell me Preshika, why have you called? Ishitha sounded rude. 
Preshika hesitated for a moment . She gathered her courage and spoke, Well Ishtitha, today is Shilpa's birthday.We are planning to throw a surprise party. Are you in? Silence prevailed for few minutes . Hey are you listening, Preshika inquired.
Yeah well I have never spoken much to Shilpa.I am not really interested to come,Ishitha replied. 
Yeah I know that. This will be our last year together.So we thought of having a get together.All our classmates will be coming.Please do come. Preshika requested.
What do you mean all our classmates?You mean EVERYONE? Ishitha couldn't control her anxiety.
No not everyone. Only girls,said Preshika.

Ishitha finally gave in after an endless argument. They discussed the venue and the time and finally hung up. What a stubborn girl, Preshika wondered.

The clock ticked 10:00. Having nothing to do, Ishitha started from home. The get together was scheduled at 10:30.But well it was Ishitha. They knew Ishitha would reach the place early. So they had it all pre-planned.

She lost her hope that they would be ever back together. She had accepted what fate had offered her. She had given away all her self respect and had literally fallen at his feet , but he did not show an iota of respect towards her.She placed her relationship before her ego but he did not seem to bother. She decided to "mind her own business" as he had asked her to. Few days passed. Even though she did not make an attempt to patch up with him after the way he ill treated her, a part of her wanted him badly. She missed his presence more than anything in the world.She had none to talk to about her misery other than her dear diary. She poured her heart out to her diary until she began to feel light. This happened every other day....

"Its over" he had said. It kept ringing in her ears. She was guilt filled. She knew that she went overboard by bringing her friend in the conversation. She wanted to do everything in her power to save the relationship but something told her that the damage is done and its beyond repair. She wanted someone by her side, comforting her and reassuring her the way he does. His voice kept echoing in her ears. She badly wished she could take back her words. She wanted to apologize to him but she couldn't find the courage within her. She wept in silence. She finally decided to make a call and fiddled for her mobile and dialed his number as soon as she could. It kept ringing and the receiver did not respond. He doesn't wanna talk to me. I have made a terrible mistake, She cried.Or may be his mobile is in silent mode and he did not notice my call,her optimistic voice called out. She redialed. Again, no answer. She kept dialing and after god-knows-how-many-missed-calls, the female on the line replied The mobile number you are trying to reach is currently switched off. Frustration filled,she threw her mobile as far as her hand could stretch. Her next thought was to see if he was online. She logged into Facebook and Gmail . He was online. She immediately pinged him. Seeing her ping, he instantly went offline. She couldn't control her tears. If only I want a second shot at something, I swear to God it would be him. The feeling of living a life without him teared her heart apart. Staying up did not seem to do any good. So she called it a day and went to bed.After a really long struggle, she finally slept.

On her way to the garden, so many baffling thoughts were lingering on her mind. "I wanna talk to you about something important", he had said. She thought, it definitely was a tricky sentence and it kept her mind preoccupied. Her mind kept shouting so many questions which were left unanswered. So she started imagining every possible explanation for that. Did I do something wrong? she wondered. Does he wanna break up with me? One part of her said everything is fine while the other kept hinting her that something was wrong. She wondered if he had second thoughts while committing to this relationship considering herself as a compromise he settled to considering the fact that he first looked like he was interested in her friend Preshika. After a long battle with herself, she finally gave up and decided to let him talk before arriving at any conclusion. So she dressed up as soon as possible and left her house. She always had the habit of reaching early and even that day she was 10 minutes early. That ten minute wait seemed like forever. With every passing minute, her pulse kept increasing. And finally the moment arrived. He approached her. She did not utter a word. She wanted him to get to the point immediately. He sensed the tension in the air and to ease her tension, he started with his usual trick to make her smile. He told her, "Hey you look so beautiful today sweetie!" and he smiled at her. But she just kept staring at him. Having failed in his attempt, he started to say, look Ishitha I need my space. And the rest fell into deaf ears. Though it was a very ordinary statement, she felt queasy. He kept saying something and finally when there was silence , she replied, “Ok if that's what you want and they left.

It was a foggy evening. The sky was clouded and blurred by the water droplets. Pritam was walking on a lonely road not really bothered about anything around him. The winds were blowing hard .The air gushed through his lungs and he lived every moment of it. The roads were steep thus allowing him to descend easily. At that moment, he saw a girl approaching him. It took him a while to realize it was Ishtiha. Without any hesitation, he walked towards her. She was taken aback by his presence. Silence prevailed for sometime. His inside kept shouting "break the ice" , so did hers. After what seemed like an eternity, both opened their mouth and uttered sorry which synchronized. All of a sudden, a heavy burden seem to have lifted from their head and they felt a sense of relief. Involuntarily he approached to hug her and she did not resist. It has been 5 months since they spoke with each other. Pritam asked, so how have you been albeit knowing the answer for that question. She took some time to reply trying to rephrase her answer that would try to hide her obvious misery. After failing in her attempt, she thought of going with "It was hell" and tears started rolling round her cheeks. He wiped those tears and said, after what I had been through, living in hell would be a bliss and turned his head away to make his tears invisible. No matter what happened, we are both responsible for it and I am extremely sorry for letting you go. I promise I will never ever let you go, at least not in this lifetime. He grabbed her and wrapped her with his hands and softly whispered , you are mine and you will be forever ♥

Before I continue with the story, I have to say that I am in no hurry to finish this story..! So keep reading. I will reveal the secret when I feel like ending this story :D

After bidding a silent goodbye to him at the bus stop, she started walking home. It takes her hardly fifteen minutes to reach college on foot. As she walked away, she smiled to herself as she thought about the few lovely moments she had just spent with him. How badly did she wish that time would freeze. But to her disappointment, the distance between her college and bus stop was lesser than half a kilometer. God bless his forgetful nature, she thought. 
Rolling back a few minutes..


She knew that she was being watched by him and she enjoyed every second of it. She avoided looking in his direction lest he finds out that his presence has been noticed and hence leaves straight away taking with him the only source of her happiness.. She hence took great caution and timed her look out for him in such a way that he wouldn't notice it. Few minutes passed. She sensed it was going to rain in lesser than half an hour.

I lost track of time. Not because I was enjoying someone's company. My mind was so preoccupied that I was least bothered about anything other than him. Preshika is my best friend. Should I be happy for her or should I be angry that she always takes away my little happiness. Perhaps I am not the kind who will be liked by any. Maybe I am supposed to spend my entire life alone. That thought made me break down. I wept and wept until I went blind. Oops! now that is embarrassing. Trying to hide my obvious misery I rubbed my eyes pretending to clear the dust that blinded me. As I kept walking, I stumbled upon something that helped me regain consciousness and the first thing I saw was a beautiful garden that immediately cheered me up. Yes nature talks to me. I am gifted that way. Many say loneliness is their companion whenever they are depressed. But me, I am never lonely. The swirling leaves, chirping birds , flower's scent everything seem to talk to me.

By the time he reached home, the sky was clear and the streets were flooded as a result of the torrential rain. It was his favorite season of the year, the rainy season. He quickly changed over, made himself a cup of coffee, picked up his all time favorite book and went to sit in the balcony. The view from that balcony was priceless. He often compared it to paradise. As he surveyed the book,he sat down in a chair. The book was severely damaged because of the number of times he himself have read that book. How i never get bored no matter how many times i read this. !! Also the fact that she had presented this book on his 18th birthday made it even more special.!

They had known each other for nearly 3 months. Since the day he met her, he always kept asking her about the "secret diary" and the only response he got was absolute silence. The more she denied, the more intrigued he became. He kept asking hoping one day she would open up. But to his disappointment, she was way to stubborn to even bend a little. It took few drops of rain to bring him back to his senses. It felt like he re-lived those moments but the reality hit him hard. He looked around. She had already left and he had no idea when it happened. As he took his next few steps, it had already started raining hard and the place around him looked deserted. Not knowing where to go, he ran towards his nearest shelter and sat down waiting for the rain to dissipate. But it didn't seem to happen anytime sooner. Frustrated, he took out his phone and found that it was out of charge. (Dammit! I always forget to do this. ) The rain seemed to gain momentum with every passing minute with the thunder and lighting making things worse, it felt like next to impossible to step out in this kind of weather. Tired as he already was, he lay down with his bag underneath his head. Something in his bag seemed to make him queasy. He delved into his bag and took out a key chain. It read "together forever ♥"
How much ever he tried to keep her thoughts aside, he felt those thoughts like a boomerang hitting him back. Tears started flowing down his blemishless face and he just couldn't fight back his emotions. He hugged his bag tightly and cried hard.The sound of thunder storms helped him divert his mind and he suddenly found himself smiling looking hard at the key chain. He felt positive vibrations gushing through his entire body. For the first time in so many days, he felt happiness and hope. He thought, it could never be over and it never is meant to be. He kissed the key chain in his hand and muttered, "together forever indeed" and his thought drifted .

As he entered the classroom, he fought back his emotions which insisted he look in her direction..! But his senses told otherwise and he felt it wise to follow what his mind ranted and hence went and occupied his usual spot.. His emotions were unyielding. He felt the word "coward" echoing within himself for the umpteenth number of time. He could hear two voices.One which seconded his act and the one which opposed. The second voice said : "why the hell don't you man up and just look?" to which the first voice responded " do you wanna embarrass yourself all over again? just try to divert yourself" 
Pushing that thought aside, he tried to initiate a conversation with his friend. After an awkward silence of we-both-don't-know-what-to-talk, he realized that would never help. And hence after a prolonged process of decision making, he looked around only to find that she was not there in that room. Instant disappointment hit him hard. He wanted to know where she is but didn't know whom to ask. So he took the task of finding it out himself and hence rushed out of the classroom.
It was not that difficult to figure out where she would be. He put some distance between him and her so that she wouldn't find out that she's being watched. As he watched her, he started reminiscing their first meeting.

He watched her as she entered the cafeteria few minutes back. His heart ached and it killed him as he sat there helpless and not able to walk straight to her and say all that he wanted to. But he knew, that moment is gone and is never coming back. He stared at the ceiling . Images of the past stared back at him. He shrugged! His fellow mate siting next to him sensed that something was wrong with his best friend for ages, and he enquired if he is alright. He saw the desolation in his friend's eyes and he knew what the reason was .. He patted him in his back, said everything is gonna be ok. But they both knew, its never gonna be ok again.

Monday 13th January 2011,12:30 PM


                  The Cafeteria looked busier than ever with people bustling in and out,occupying their usual spot.,munching and shrieking at the top of their voice,deriding their peers.


At the extreme corner,sat a clump of girls prattling about nothing new. "The usual cliché talks".. Sat amongst them was a girl, who felt like a fish out of the pond..Bygone are the days when she used to be a zealot. Present day, any sentence uttered by her fellow mates sounded like an awful racket to her..! She still found it hard to embrace the fact that her world has crashed right in front of her eyes.
