New Beginnings - Chapter 7

Previous Chapter: New Beginnings Chapter 6

Take me to the Index

Before I continue with the story, I have to say that I am in no hurry to finish this story..! So keep reading. I will reveal the secret when I feel like ending this story :D

After bidding a silent goodbye to him at the bus stop, she started walking home. It takes her hardly fifteen minutes to reach college on foot. As she walked away, she smiled to herself as she thought about the few lovely moments she had just spent with him. How badly did she wish that time would freeze. But to her disappointment, the distance between her college and bus stop was lesser than half a kilometer. God bless his forgetful nature, she thought.
Rolling back a few minutes..

She knew that she was being watched by him and she enjoyed every second of it. She avoided looking in his direction lest he finds out that his presence has been noticed and hence leaves straight away taking with him the only source of her happiness.. She hence took great caution and timed her look out for him in such a way that he wouldn't notice it. Few minutes passed. She sensed it was going to rain in lesser than half an hour.

New Beginnings- Chapter 6

Pritam continues reading..

I lost track of time. Not because I was enjoying someone's company. My mind was so preoccupied that I was least bothered about anything other than him. Preshika is my best friend. Should I be happy for her or should I be angry that she always takes away my little happiness. Perhaps I am not the kind who will be liked by any. Maybe I am supposed to spend my entire life alone. That thought made me break down. I wept and wept until I went blind. Oops! now that is embarrassing. Trying to hide my obvious misery I rubbed my eyes pretending to clear the dust that blinded me. As I kept walking, I stumbled upon something that helped me regain consciousness and the first thing I saw was a beautiful garden that immediately cheered me up. Yes nature talks to me. I am gifted that way. Many say loneliness is their companion whenever they are depressed. But me, I am never lonely. The swirling leaves, chirping birds , flower's scent everything seem to talk to me.

New Beginnings- Chapter 5

By the time he reached home, the sky was clear and the streets were flooded as a result of the torrential rain. It was his favorite season of the year, the rainy season. He quickly changed over, made himself a cup of coffee, picked up his all time favorite book and went to sit in the balcony. The view from that balcony was priceless. He often compared it to paradise. As he surveyed the book,he sat down in a chair. The book was severely damaged because of the number of times he himself have read that book. How i never get bored no matter how many times i read this. !! Also the fact that she had presented this book on his 18th birthday made it even more special.!

April 21, 2008

They had known each other for nearly 3 months. Since the day he met her, he always kept asking her about the "secret diary" and the only response he got was absolute silence. The more she denied, the more intrigued he became. He kept asking hoping one day she would open up. But to his disappointment, she was way to stubborn to even bend a little. Days passed. On a pleasant evening, after the classes, they were heading towards the bus stop.

New Beginnings -Chapter 4

Previous Chapter:New Beginnings Chapter 3

Take me to the Index

It took few drops of rain to bring him back to his senses. It felt like he re-lived those moments but the reality hit him hard. He looked around. She had already left and he had no idea when it happened. As he took his next few steps, it had already started raining hard and the place around him looked deserted. Not knowing where to go, he ran towards his nearest shelter and sat down waiting for the rain to dissipate. But it didn't seem to happen anytime sooner. Frustrated, he took out his phone and found that it was out of charge. (Dammit! I always forget to do this. ) The rain seemed to gain momentum with every passing minute with the thunder and lighting making things worse, it felt like next to impossible to step out in this kind of weather. Tired as he already was, he lay down with his bag underneath his head. Something in his bag seemed to make him queasy. He delved into his bag and took out a key chain. It read "together forever "
How much ever he tried to keep her thoughts aside, he felt those thoughts like a boomerang hitting him back. Tears started flowing down his blemishless face and he just couldn't fight back his emotions. He hugged his bag tightly and cried hard. The sound of thunder storms helped him divert his mind and he suddenly found himself smiling looking hard at the key chain. He felt positive vibrations gushing through his entire body. For the first time in so many days, he felt happiness and hope. He thought, it could never be over and it never is meant to be. He kissed the key chain in his hand and muttered, "together forever indeed" and his thought drifted .

New Beginnings-Chapter 3

Previous chapter: New Beginnings chapter 2

Take me to the Index

As he entered the classroom, he fought back his emotions which insisted he look in her direction..! But his senses told otherwise and he felt it wise to follow what his mind ranted and hence went and occupied his usual spot.. His emotions were unyielding. He felt the word "coward" echoing within himself for the umpteenth number of time. He could hear two voices. One which seconded his act and the one which opposed. The second voice said : "why the hell don't you man up and just look?" to which the first voice responded " do you wanna embarrass yourself all over again? just try to divert yourself"
Pushing that thought aside, he tried to initiate a conversation with his friend. After an awkward silence of we-both-don't-know-what-to-talk, he realized that would never help. And hence after a prolonged process of decision making, he looked around only to find that she was not there in that room. Instant disappointment hit him hard. He wanted to know where she is but didn't know whom to ask. So he took the task of finding it out himself and hence rushed out of the classroom.
It was not that difficult to figure out where she would be. He put some distance between him and her so that she wouldn't find out that she's being watched. As he watched her, he started reminiscing their first meeting.

New Beginnings - Chapter 2

Previous chapter: new beginnings

He watched her as she entered the cafeteria few minutes back. His heart ached and it killed him as he sat there helpless and not able to walk straight to her and say all that he wanted to. But he knew, that moment is gone and is never coming back. He stared at the ceiling . Images of the past stared back at him. He shrugged! His fellow mate siting next to him sensed that something was wrong with his best friend for ages, and he enquired if he is alright. He saw the desolation in his friend's eyes and he knew what the reason was .. He patted him in his back, said everything is gonna be ok. But they both knew, its never gonna be ok again.

A recent Hindi flick directed by Zoya Akhtar starring Hrithik Roshan as Arjun, Farhan Akthar as Imraan, Abhay Deol as Kabir, Katrina Kaif as Laila and Kalki Koechlin as Natasha. The movie starts with the trio (Arjun, Kabir and Imraan) going on a Bachelor trip to Spain pretty much like the hangover movie.

Realization!

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

New Beginnings...! Chapter 1

Monday 13th January 2011,12:30 PM

The Cafeteria looked busier than ever with people bustling in and out, occupying their usual spot.,munching and shrieking at the top of their voice, deriding their peers.

At the extreme corner, sat a clump of girls prattling about nothing new. "The usual cliché talks".. Sat amongst them was a girl, who felt like a fish out of the pond..Bygone are the days when she used to be a zealot. Present day, any sentence uttered by her fellow mates sounded like an awful racket to her..! She still found it hard to embrace the fact that her world has crashed right in front of her eyes.

The joy of giving back!

Its an era where time plays a vital role in the life of each one of us. We feel there is no time to actually turn back and see what is going on in the fear of getting left behind .Now the time has come to stop running and start looking. That's where the change has to come. We are not complacent enough to put up a smug smile on our faces. How many of us actually go to sleep feeling gratified ? Well i need not answer that question.

There is always the other side of the coin. As a kid, the only thing that used to tantalize us  was studies. It seriously has been such a herculean task for us to go to school. But there are also kids who so much ache to go to school but are always deprived of the basic amenities which include education. As a kid, they are made to embrace hardship. These kids also sometimes happen to be the sole bread  winner of his/her family. They do not care about recreation but they are elated if they get to eat once a day.

Blooming vettiness/Idleness! :D

It was 2 in the morning and still she was wide awake, unable to sleep. The incident that happened a few hours ago was still haunting her. Trying to put the pieces together, all she could arrive at was absolutely nothing! She found herself failing in her futile attempt to wipe off her ever flowing tears. She kept wondering if it was the destiny or her inadvertent nature that is making her bear hardship. Trying to divert herself from that inevitable thought, she decided to watch her favorite movie of all times. Half way through, she realized that it was not really helping her in any way but is rather making her feel more worse! Her next instant thought was to call up her best buddy and cry about it. But she had this strange delusional feeling inside her that her friend would call her insane and that she is over-reacting.Also making a call this early in the morning didn't seem like a very good idea. So she let that thought pass. She looked at the clock. It was 2:14 AM. She was getting frustrated. Why aren't you ticking? she kept asking the clock as if expecting the clock to retort back at her "go sleep you foolish lady."

Fascinating Fairy tales :)

As a kid, i have always marvelled at the way fairy tales lure me into a deep slumber full of fascinating things which one would always want.. And i still do!!
One main reason i always love to watch/read them is

"Fairy tales always have a happy ending"

Be it Cinderella  or Rapunzel, the storyline is one and the same.. There is this very beautiful girl(not just beautiful but is also highly talented in anything and everything) leading a miserable life and a prince charming aka the saviour comes for her rescue and "they live happily ever after." Yeah as you would be thinking the storyline looks really dumb , it definitely wins over the female population who loves anything romantic! So we end up shedding few drops of tears at the end!

Growing up with those tales,we fail to admire the beauty of life. Such stories have clouded our vision that we fail to understand what life is most of the time or rather we didn't actually understand what those stories intended to communicate! Everyone's life is indeed a fairy tale . A fairy tale where the prince charming takes a little more time than the usual ones to show up.  But he will ,nevertheless. If its not an happy ending then its not an ending at all. We are not the script writer when it comes to our story. As the saying goes, "As you sow,so you reap" you can make your story a better one by your good deeds which is nothing but improvisation ..

Go Green!!

The need of the hour is a clean and green environment. We have meddled so much with our mother earth, that its our responsibility to set things right once again. Of course, taking a quantum leap is a ludicrous thought. But step by step progress is definitely not a bad thing. After all something is better than nothing..
One greater step towards achieving that goal would be to ban plastics.
Plastic is one of the major toxic pollutants of our time. Being a non-biodegradable substance, composed of toxic chemicals, plastic pollutes earth, air and water.
Plastic plays the villain right from the stage of its production. The major chemicals that go into the making of plastic are highly toxic and pose serious threat to living beings of all species on earth.
There is no way that they are going to turn any useful..Its scientifically proven that the chemicals used in the making of plastic can cause cancer .

Here i would like to quote certain facts..
1.Plastic resins are flammable and have contributed to several accidents worldwide.
2.The noxious substances emitted during the production of plastic are synthetic chemicals like ethylene oxide, benzene and xylenes. Besides hitting hard the eco-system, which is already fragile, these chemicals can cause an array of maladies ranging from birth defects to cancer, damage the nervous system and the immune system and also adversely affect the blood and the kidneys. And, many of these toxic substance are emitted during recycling of plastic, too.

Awestruck!!!

3 cheers to the Egyptian people!!
After striving for 18 full days, they have  succeeded in making their President Hosni Mubarak aka The Dictator, step down finally!!

History briefly said:
In 1981 following the assassination of Anwar Sadat during a military parade,Mubarak took
control, thus marking the beginning of an era which prevailed for about 30 years..

Democracy rules over:
How true is the saying, We the people of the country have the ultimate authority.. Nothing is impossible if the common man join hands.. This incident filled my heart with reverence and all i could say now is, Kudos to the Egyptians..
United we stand, divided we fall ..
Here i would like to express my gratitude to the people for unleashing the potential of unity which remained dormant all these days...

Take a Break!!! Part 2 .. :)

Got this as a mail! LOVED IT.!!! Read the entire thing.. you will thoroughly enjoy :)

OK… So I was back in bench… I was a free bird once again… No more boarding of 7: 30 buses… No more onsite calls… No more work… I was released… Hurray!!!

Just then my mobile rang. It was my father.

“Hello… How are you?”

“Fine, how are you father?”

“I am fine. How is work going on? Are you busy...”

“Work?… Uh… Well… You see… Right now I don’t have work…” I gulped as I said these words.

“What?!!! You don’t have any work? Youngsters should work at least 12 hours a day. You are getting salary every month right?! You should take the initiative… Do you know what Gandhiji has said about work?... He said…”

The Lost Symbol-A Review..!!

Expecting too much often leads to disappointment!
Here i would like to elucidate a few things. This book is definitely worth a read.. But then Dan Brown's profound way of explaining things is not always welcomed by many.. especially a person who is as impatient as i am.. None other than Robert Langdon( the Harvard symbologist) is the protagonist.. Brown has tried out the same formula. After the incredible success of Da Vinci ,its so unfortunate that it didn't work out much!!
The story begins with a guy(Malakh ,but never mind. we will call him the Bad guy for convenience) who is in search of a Lost Symbol which is supposed to hold ancient secrets which is understood only by the esoteric class which  when revealed to the world, can cause massive destruction and huge commotion.

The price we pay for democracy!!

To start with, Democracy means "for the people,of the people and by the people"
which clearly states, we the people of India get to choose the person who is going to lead us which implies he/she must have a sound knowledge or atleast a good leadership quality but its really depressing to see that its lacking in our country.
It either has to be that our country is no more a democratic one or that they have redefined democracy and it never hit the headlines.
I dare say that the root cause for all this is corruption!
Is corruption the price we pay for democracy??
In our so called democratic rule, people are lured into the act of bribery..
Recent scams prove beyond any shadow of doubt that money has an upper hand in almost any issue..

I love you too, Zindagi! :)

Hello there! :)  Its been a while hasn't it , well I can imagine some of you yawning and rolling your eyes. Ok I think I will just cut...
